SERTOMA PURPOSE: Making Life Worthwhile Through
SERvice TO MAnkind.
What is Sertoma? Sertoma International is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit
international organization. Sertoma’s primary service project is assisting the more than 50 million
people with speech, hearing and language disorders. Sertoma also sponsors community projects to
promote freedom and democracy, to assist youth and to benefit a variety of other local community needs,
as identified by the individual clubs. Every year Sertoma Clubs raise more than $20 million for local
community service projects. Through these projects, as well as grants and scholarships, Sertoma Clubs
return those funds to their respective communities - and they have lots of fun doing it while building
life-long friendships.
Sertoma in Fort Worth The Sertoma Club of Downtown Fort Worth was
chartered on May 28, 1948. This year we will be celebrating our 62nd anniversary. We meet each
Tuesday morning at 7:00am for breakfast in the downstairs dining room at Colonial Country Club
- ground level on the golf course. Speakers at our meetings present programs of interest to
our members and guests.
Our Sponsorships Sponsorships are the heart of Sertoma. They are
our service projects for the needs in our community.
Awards Each year we honor an individual outside our club for
outstanding community service through our "Service To Mankind" award. We also recognize the
service of one of our members by presenting the "Sertoman of the Year" award.
Fundraising Our major fundraising project is soliciting subscribers
to our flag display program in the Tanglewood neighborhood of Fort Worth. We put up large flags
in the yards of over 100 residents on five patriotic holidays. What a beautiful sight all over
Tanglewood! visit
